The level of Lac-Saint-Jean is finally down

The level of Lac Saint-Jean will drop below 18 feet again at the start of Monday night after an exceptional flood.

Authorities say the lake could return below the 16.5-foot level over the next weekend. However, everything depends on the forthcoming rainfall.

This is a relief for many residents.

“We were really looking forward to it,” confirmed a resident of the Domaine des Marais sector in Chambord.

On Monday, the lake was at 18.18 feet, and you could see the damage the flood had left. “It is really in the Marais area that there is erosion, fortunately, there were no evacuations”, explained the mayor of Chambord, Luc Chiasson. Residents of the area began cleaning today.

Same thing in Saint-Henri-de-Taillon where the damage is clearly visible. The water eroded the banks and damaged the beach. The area’s chalet owners’ association would like more support to preserve what they call their “natural gem”.
