Windsor police said the presence of the protesters, who would block two out of three lanes, was disrupting the arrival from the bridge to Huron Church Street in Windsor.

“The Ambassador Bridge exit to Huron Church Street (both northbound and southbound) is temporarily closed. Avoid the area or find another route, if possible,” police called in the middle of the afternoon.

“Our police officers continue to work hard to allow traffic to continue to flow along Huron Church Street, in addition to ensuring order and safety,” authorities added shortly after 5 p.m.

According to the Canada Border Services Agency, there was a wait of over two hours to get to the Ambassador Bridge border crossing around 5 p.m.

The CBSA has also called on motorists to use another crossing to access or return from the United States.

The demonstrators explained to the local media that they were there to support their colleagues in Ottawa in their demands for the abolition of sanitary measures.

” Enough is enough. You have to stand up for your rights and your freedoms and for what you believe in the end, ”explained a participant at the microphone of CTV News.

The Ambassador Bridge is the busiest crossing point between the United States and Canada and is a major economic and commercial link, with thousands of trucks crossing it every day.
