Tequisquiapan, scene of the largest cheese and wine festival in the country


Parque La Pila, located at 10 Nautha Street in the Historic Center of Tequisquiapan and the Magical Town of Querétaro, will be the setting for the National Cheese and Wine Fair in its 2022 edition, which will take place from May 20 to 5. of June.

The largest cheese and wine festival in the country will take place over the three weekends, under a new format that will be dedicated to the family, and to the culture of wine and gastronomy. Each weekend will have a special theme inspired by the colors of wine: The first weekend will be the “Celebration in White”, which seeks to celebrate the return of the Fair. The second weekend will be “Life in Rosé”, to celebrate the special moments that life offers; and the third weekend, “Amor y Tinto” will be held, to celebrate love and harmony.

The 42nd edition of the National Cheese and Wine Fair of Tequisquiapan 2022, returns after 2 years of suspension derived from the Covid-19 health contingency, an event where winemakers from Mexico, dairies, restaurants and presentations of a hundred artists on four stages.

During the Fair, a series of activities will be developed for wine lovers, but also culinary, gastronomic and cultural activities. There will be cheese exhibitions, in the voice of the Queretaro producers themselves, wine tastings, and catwalk tastings for the benefit of various civil associations, every weekend, by renowned designers such as Pineda Covalín and Sindashi pre-Hispanic art in fashion. Similarly art auctions; activities for children and the participation of renowned flamenco musicians and singers, this year the guest country of the Fair will be Spain, which will adorn with its variety of wine, music, dance, art and culture.

“The fair is an invitation to appreciate, refine and sensitively enjoy national and international wine labels, as well as the possibility for visitors to learn basic techniques for choosing and tasting wine and cheese, through tastings and pairings. , combined with art and music; in addition to 60 exhibition stands for cheese, wine and art”, said Antonio Mejía Lira, municipal president of Tequisquiapan.

The 2022 edition of this fair is expected to attract more than 60,000 visitors and generate an economic spill of 120 million pesos. The cost of access will be 250 pesos.

Because it is important?

The Querétaro wine region has become the second most important tourist product for the entity and represents the most visited wine region in the country, attracting 1 million visitors a year. And even the international guide Travel Lemming called this region “the new Napa Valley”, as Mariela Moran Ocampo, Secretary of Tourism of the state of Querétaro, commented during the presentation of the Fair.
