Tequila industry, among the friendliest with the environment

Guadalajara, Jal. The tequila industry registers increasing growth in the world but in a sustainable way and currently, it is the first alcoholic beverage in the world deforestation free.

To show the vision of sustainable growth of the agave-tequila production chain, the General Strategic Coordinator of Growth and Economic Development of Jalisco, Xavier Orendain, participated in the Diageo Leaders Meeting.

“They were able to see first-hand our commitment to the environment, to our people, to our natural resources such as water, land and sustainable plantations,” said Orendain De Obeso.

The virtual meeting was attended by 150 leaders of different brands of beverages that Diageo markets on a global scale and in it the vision of international growth that exists for tequila mainly in markets of Asia, Europe and the Middle East was exposed.

“Part of the success that the spirit drink has had in the world is that it is associated with the many good things that exist in Mexico such as its traditions, magic, culture and diversity, in addition to the joint work with the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT)” said the official.

From January to October of this year, tequila production reached 433.9 million liters, a figure that represents an increase of 40% compared to the same period in 2020.

Meanwhile, from January to October of this year, tequila exports grew 17% compared to 2020, adding 279.3 million liters sent to international markets.
