Temps de Flors recovers emblematic interior spaces of Girona

It will be an “almost normal” edition with 119 floral projects, but the Girona City Council recommends “wearing the mask where there are many people”

After two years marked by the pandemic, with one edition canceled and a second in “Open Sky”, Temps de Flors returns with force with 119 floral montages recovering emblematic interior spaces such as the Banys Àrabs or the basements and the cloister of the cathedral.

“It will be an ambitious and powerful Flower Season with innovative projects,” explained the mayor of Girona, Marta Madrenas, at the presentation of the 67th edition of an exhibition that will maintain some precautions such as the non-recovery of interior visits in private spaces, with the exception of the Casa Sambola, or the perimeter closure of the Barri Vell with differentiated entry and exit points.

«We recommend that people use the mask in closed spaces or where there are many people», pointed out Marta Madrenas and the councilor for economic promotion Glòria Plana.

Temps de Flors will start next Saturday May 7th and will last for nine days, with all spaces open from 10 in the morning to 10 at night. With the exception of the Open Night (two Saturdays and Wednesday 11) when the hours will be extended until midnight.

The Barri Vell will once again be the epicenter but, based on last year’s experience, extending to other neighborhoods such as Can Gibert del Pla, Carme, Devesa, Eixample, Fontajau, Mercadal, Montilivi, Santa Eugenia, San Narciso, Taialà and Vall of Saint Daniel. «We take the Temps de Flors projects almost to people’s houses, so that they experience the show as soon as they leave their house», assured Madrenas.

These visitors will only be able to enter the Barri Vell through five specific points (entrance (ramp of the Sant Feliu climb, Rei Martí climb, Plaza dels Jurats, Archaeological walk and Sant Domènec square) and exit through another five: stairs of the ascent of Sant Feliu, Carrer de la Força, Plaça dels Jurats, Archaeological Walk and Plaça de Sant Domènec Carrer de la Força will be one-way, going down, but the City Council has not foreseen any maximum number of visitors in the old part of the city and by having to restrict access.
