Teen Charged With Mischief, Arson, In Incidents Allegedly Targeting Chemawawin – Winnipeg RCMP | The Canadian News

A 17-year-old girl is in custody and faces charges of mischief and arson after the RCMP in Chemawawin Cree Nation was allegedly attacked in a couple of incidents, police said.

According to Chemawawin RCMP, the first incident occurred on Friday night, when the teenager approached police and admitted to throwing a stone through the window of an RCMP residence.

She was arrested for mischief and released with a court date to face the charge.

Two days later, police were alerted that a garbage can at the detachment was on fire.

Thanks to video surveillance, police said they were able to identify the same suspect in the incident, setting off what appeared to be a deliberate arson.

After the fire was extinguished, the teenager was arrested again and now faces charges, including arson with disregard for human life, arson with property damage and possession of incendiary material.
