The increase translates to another $ 76 on a home valued at $ 250,000. A budget summary noted that its three main themes revolve around resuming normal operations, implementing the first phase of a city operations review, and ongoing reviews of business processes and implementation of the related recommendations.

“This status quo budget allows us to refocus our energy and resources on improving our services to Tecumseh residents and businesses,” Mayor Gary McNamara said in a press release.

“The city has weathered nearly two years of COVID-19 in good financial shape and with plans to improve flood protection, repair roads and increase recreational amenities. We are also looking forward to a community celebration of the city’s centenary in 2022 ”.

The city has budgeted total expenditures of $ 28.7 million in 2022.

The new development resulted in an additional assessment of $ 250,000 and municipal taxes comprise 54 percent of a typical residential tax bill with the remainder coming from education and county taxes.
