Tears are thrown in San Lázaro

As every year, the discussion of the Federation Expenditure Budget (PEF) was framed by social protests outside the Chamber of Deputies. Shortly after 10:00 am yesterday, dozens of protesters from different social groups surrounded the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro, in order to demand more budget in 2022, both for social sectors and for the countryside.

The protesters, members of the Francisco Villa Peasant Front, the Peasant Torch, the Populist Organization of Teachers, the Marxist-Lenist Communist Party of Mexico, and Users Organized in Disobedience, managed to block five doors and four vehicular accesses.

It was at noon when a group of people, mostly women, clashed with Resguardo y Seguridad personnel from the Chamber of Deputies at the time when the PRD coordinator, Luis Espinoza Cházaro, was seeking to enter this legislative area. During the incident, tear gas was fired that affected four San Lázaro workers.

Immediately, elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City arrived at the scene to protect the Chamber of Deputies.
