Sud-Ouest: a place in memory of the victims of COVID-19

The mayor of the Sud-Ouest borough and vice-president of the executive committee of the City of Montreal, Benoît Dorais, announced Thursday the development in 2022 of a commemorative place in memory of the victims of COVID-19.

The site is located near the Yvon-Brunet accommodation center, in the district of Saint-Paul-Émard-Saint-Henri-Ouest.

To mark the National Commemoration Day in memory of the victims of COVID-19, the Sud-Ouest borough will lower its flag on Friday.

A march will be organized by the Seniors Committee of the Concentration Ville-Émard/Côte-Saint-Paul organization at 12:30 p.m. from the Angrignon metro station, followed by a commemoration ceremony in front of the Yvon-Brunet residential centre.

“Given the devastating nature of the pandemic in the borough’s living environments, it seems essential to us to honor the memory of our fellow citizens who died of COVID-19,” said Benoit Dorais in a press release.

“This place makes it possible to remember, to honor the memory of people who died alone, to reflect and move towards a better future,” mentioned the Elder Committee of Concertation Ville-Émard-Côte Saint-Paul.
