While students, staff and other invited guests looked on, a time capsule buried in front of the school building in May 1997 was uncovered. It had been buried in celebration of the school’s 75th anniversary, in conjunction with the Town of Montreal West’s centennial.

A new time capsule was buried in its place Thursday to be opened in 25 years’ time. Students have been writing letters for inclusion in the capsule about what they think Montreal and Elizabeth Ballantyne Elementary will look like in 2047.

Among the other items placed in the time capsule: masks, hand sanitizers and COVID-19 rapid tests along with a newspaper and photos.
