Strong Winds for Greater Toronto Area Thursday, Special Weather Release Warns | The Canadian News

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the greater Toronto area ahead of Thursday’s strong winds.

The meteorological agency said that during the afternoon southwest winds will develop with gusts of up to 70 or 80 km / h.

The strong gusts are expected to continue into the evening hours before fading into the night.

“These high winds can throw loose objects or cause tree branches to break,” said Environment Canada.

“Local power outages are also possible.”

Global News meteorologist Anthony Farnell is forecasting warm temperatures Thursday, ranging from 12 C to 15 C across the GTA.

He said sustained winds in Toronto will hover between 40 and 50 km / h, with gusts possibly exceeding 80 km / h.
