Strong explosion destroys the Hotel Saratoga in Havana


A strong explosion shook Havana, Cuba this Friday morning, destroying the Saratoga Hotelit was not clear what caused the explosion in the city center.

Cuban police and firefighters searched for survivors in the rubble.

A Reuters witness saw smoke and flames coming from the building.

Shortly after 11:00 a.m., a cloud of smoke and dust spread towards Prado, the main avenue in downtown Havana, where the hotel is located. The first four floors were practically destroyed, with piles of rubble and glass all around.
