The company’s press release confirmed Stewart will be joined by high-ranking federal and provincial government officials for the 1 pm press conference at Stellantis’s Automotive Research and Development Center on Rhodes Drive.

Sources have told the Star that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Doug Ford are expected to attend, barring last-minute changes.

Multiple sources have also confirmed the expected announcement of new investments will be worth several hundreds of millions of dollars.

Stellantis has already committed to investing up to $1.5 billion to update the Windsor Assembly Plant to produce new electric vehicle models as well as updated versions of the Pacific minivan. The company has also previously confirmed to Unifor officials its intention to restore the plant to three shifts once the facility has been retooled for electric vehicle production.

Chrysler brand president Christine Feuell said earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that Windsor Assembly was on the list of plants being considered for production of the new finalized version of the Airflow Concept.
