Stages nightclub delays reopening amid spike in region COVID-19 cases

Stages Nightclub has announced that they will delay the reopening of their nightclub for another 28 days. This comes as the province put a pause on raising capacity limits for high-risk settings such as nightclubs and strip clubs.

“We are saddened and upset to inform you that we will postpone the reopening for another 28 days. We do not believe that it is better to reopen at 25% capacity and we think that the ideal is to wait a little longer until we open our doors to them ”, said this Friday the management of Stages Nightclub to its clients.

Management says that while they are saddened to inform customers about this, “it’s better because they want a full nightclub and an open dance floor.”

While the capacity limits for nightclubs were scheduled to be lifted on Monday, November 15, Ontario’s chief physician, Dr. Kieran Moore, said the case count and positivity rates have risen in recent days.

Kingston has not been an exception to this. On Friday, KFL & A Public Health confirmed 22 new cases in the region. There are now 150 active cases in the KFL & A area, which is a record for the region. The KFL & A area last saw 150 active cases in April 2021.

The Spot Nightclub has also announced that it will not be opening this weekend as a result of multiple positive cases related to the establishment on Halloween.
