SSA will invest 30 million dollars in terminal in the port of Manzanillo

SSA México, a subsidiary of Grupo Carrix, informed that next year it will invest 30 million dollars to add two cranes of the Super Post Panamax type and six RTG yard cranes in the terminal that operates in the port of Manzanillo.

“In the ports of Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas, container and car maneuvers, respectively, are ending the year with figures that consolidate leadership in the sector. The Specialized Container Terminal (TEC I) increased up to 10% at an annual rate, equivalent to 30% of the total handled in the areas of the Pacific coast ”, the company reported.

In the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, the Specialized Automobile Terminal (TEA), the only one of its kind in the country, maintained strong dynamism as the volume of operations increased to 400,000 units, representing an annual increase of more than 33 %, marking 2021 as a record year.

At the same time in the port of Veracruz, it displaced up to 50% of the total volume of the automotive units managed by the site, while preparing new areas that allow increasing storage and custody surfaces. In general cargo, sustained growth was also recorded.

Regarding its business expectations, SSA Mexico added that “it will continue to improve the growth horizon in 2022, in line with the strengthening of operations at the national and global level, while 2021 is closing with strong dynamism in the main Mexican terminals ”.

In the cruise segment, the firm also projects significant investments in the infrastructure of the Cozumel and Puerto Progreso terminals for the following year.

After the reactivation of tourism, since June, growth has recovered to 60% in the arrival of flotel ships, which had an impact from October, in which 90% of passengers participated without any restriction in excursions and tours, reaching the prepandemic level.
