The raid involved members of the Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit and Leamington bylaw officers, who were authorized by court order to enter a greenhouse in the 1000 block of Mersea Road 2.

Along with discovering hundreds of cannabis plants inside the property, officers also found nearly 500 pounds of dried and processed cannabis, packaged in vacuum-sealed bags.

According to OPP, the estimated total value of the cannabis seized is approximately $2.7 million.

OPP said their investigation continues.

Sgt. Chhieu Seng of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit said joint enforcement efforts are “crucial in successfully curtailing the ongoing illegal cannabis enterprises that continue to immerse themselves in our communities.”

“We will continue to utilize whatever resources are available to stop these prohibited grow (operations),” Seng stated.
