Dean Berta Viñales, 15, has died after suffering a serious accident while filming in Jerez, in the first race of the day of the championship -small- of the WorldSSP 300. The medical services acted quickly, but the injuries suffered in the chest and head were very serious, ending the life of the cousin of Maverick.

It was the first race of the weekend. On lap 11, Dean Berta Viñales, Alejandro Carrion, Daniel Mogeda, Harry Khouri and Yeray Ruiz they were involved in a steep crash at turn 2. The stewards immediately raised the red flag and the race was concluded, with three laps remaining, with the record of the last completed lap, with victory being for Jeffrey Buis.
The medical assistance took to the track and Viñales could even be transferred to the nearest hospital, but nothing could be done for his life, as reported by the organization.

Dean Berta Viñales made his debut this year in the Superbike World Championship, precisely in Team Viñales sponsored by his cousin Maverick. “With deep sadness, we report the death of the pilot Dean Berta Viñales (Team Viñales Racing) after the serious incident that occurred in Race 1 of the Spanish Motul Round, the seventh round of the 2021 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship that takes place in the Jerez Circuit -Ángel Nieto.
Berta Viñales was involved in a crash with several drivers at Turn 1, and the race was immediately interrupted with the red flag. The pilot has suffered serious head and chest injuries. The medical vehicles have reached the point of the accident immediately and have treated the motorcyclist at the foot of the track before transferring him to the Medical Center of the circuit.
Despite the best efforts of the circuit’s medical staff, the Medical Center has announced that unfortunately Berta Viñales has succumbed to her injuries.
Berta Viñales was enjoying a recent run of good performances in her season as a rookie in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship. She had achieved a fourth place in Race 2 of Magny-Cours and then continued with a sixth place in Race 2 of Barcelona-Catalunya, having set the fastest lap in Race 1. During the Spanish Motul Round he had shown great potential fighting in the leading group and registering his best result in a Superpole.
