Sonos announces new second-generation Beam soundbar with Dolby Atmos

Sonos is back in the living room with its latest product. Second generation Sonos Beam.

This new Beam enhances audio quality with Dolby Atmos support and adopts the easy-to-clean, all-plastic design of the well-regarded Sonos Arc.

All in all, it seems like a recipe for success, but if it really sounds better, then the older model is still up for debate. The other problem, for Canadians at least, is that the new Beam will cost $ 650 CAD. This is $ 150 more than the previous version.

However, like the original Beam, the new version has four forward-facing mid woofers and a single tweeter in the center of the speaker for clear voice. The first Beam was a decent soundbar, so I would expect this to be just as good.

On the other hand, Sonos says that due to software improvements, the new chi can do Dolby Atmos and a few other tricks that Atmos can do and provides a better soundscape overall.

Like most modern Sonos speakers, you also have access to AirPlay 2, Google Assistant, Alexa, and Spotify Connect. You can also stream music from Sonos Radio. Sonos also has a night mode and a speech enhancement feature that it implements in its speakers.

The new Beam is available for pre-order now for $ 649 CAD and will be available to everyone on October 5.
