Shannen Doherty was “ruled out” when she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.
Last year, the Charmed star revealed that her breast cancer had returned to stage four, having gone into remission in 2017.
Now she has said that people believed she was past her peak when she revealed her diagnosis, even though she is “a better actress” than ever thanks to the new “wealth of emotions” she can tap into.
She said: “People with stage four are immediately canceled. Insurance companies cancel them, doctors cancel them, your boss cancels them, and I really think when something like this happens to you, you’re probably an even harder worker than ever. They were. And for me, as an actor, now I have a lot of emotions to deepen and take advantage of my performance.

“So, I think I’m a better actor than I ever was, and working alone, yes, it sure is helping me. But it’s also kind of an exaggeration, hey, don’t discount us. We are still vibrant, we are still out there and we want to be part of the workforce. “
Shannen also said that the idea of treating cancer patients as if they couldn’t work is even more damaging for people who need their pay to survive.
She added: “Many people with stage four have dependent families and need the paycheck.
“Then all of a sudden, to say, hey, this person has stage four, so they can’t work anymore, you’re taking a livelihood from them. Stage four people have a lot of life in them. “
The Beverly Hills star 90210 has learned to “plan for tomorrow” more than ever after her diagnosis.
Speaking on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he said, “You know, what I hear a lot is people saying, ‘God, just seize the day, you live for today,’ and I’m actually the opposite. I look a lot like a planner for tomorrow now, whereas I don’t think I was before.
“Now I am very focused on the future and doing yes, everything I can now, but I do not live as if today is my last day, or tomorrow could be my last day.”
