Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar revealed Thursday that she was diagnosed with breast cancer seven months ago and is now disease free following a lumpectomy and radiation treatment.

The context: In a post published Thursday morning on Medium, 61-year-old Kloubchar described receiving her stage 1A breast cancer diagnosis.

  • According to the nonprofit organization breastcancer.org, early stage means the tumor is “up to 2 centimeters and the cancer has not spread outside the breast; there are no affected lymph nodes ”.
  • Klobuchar called on Americans not to ignore routine medical exams, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

What do they say? “It’s something that nobody wants to hear, and nobody wants to experience, but it has really renewed my faith in the people around me and in my purpose,” Klobuchar, a Democrat, told “Good Morning America.”
