Search for body underway after swimmer goes missing in Kelowna


Calgary man Oluwaseun Samson Adedeji, 34, was last seen jumping from a boat into Okanagan Lake at 3:45 pm on June 18.

A body search is underway in Okanagan Lake after a swimmer went missing on Saturday after jumping into the lake and not resurfacing.

According to Kelowna Regional Detachment spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Duggan, 34-year-old Calgary man Oluwaseun Samson Adedeji was last seen jumping from a boat into Okanagan Lake at 3:45 pm on June 18.

The incident occurred near Squally Point, south of Rattlesnake Island, while Adedeji and five friends were vacationing from Calgary.

Adedeji failed to resurface after his jump.

The West Kelowna RCMP boat team and the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue and West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to the scene but were unable to locate him.

The search for Adedeji’s body is still continuing.
