Saskatchewan Teen Faces First-Degree Murder Charges in Death of Air Ronge Woman | The Canadian News

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit has arrested a teenager and charged him with first-degree murder after a woman was found dead Saturday.

The victim has been identified as Jennifer Hendry, 46, of Air Ronge, Sask.

At this time, investigators do not believe the defendant and victim knew each other.

The teenager, who cannot be identified under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act, also faces a robbery charge.

He has appeared before La Ronge Provincial Court and has been taken into custody until his next court appearance on 27 January.

The teenager is from the La Ronge RCMP detachment area.

“Input received from community members was critical to this investigation,” said Insp. Joshua Graham of the RCMP Saskatchewan Major Crimes Unit.

“This incident has left Jennifer’s loved ones, and the Air Ronge area, grieving. We are grateful that the community was willing to assist our investigators, who have been working tirelessly on this case, and have now arrested and charged the person believed to be responsible.”

A person who appeared in a photo and video released by the RCMP on Monday has been identified to aid the investigation.
