Salmonella: recall of Jif peanut butters


Certain Jif brand peanut butters are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Among the recalled products are several formats of creamy and crunchy peanut butter.

In all, just under 12 products were affected by this recall from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), nationwide.

If you have purchased any of the products mentioned below, do not consume it. Throw it away or return it to the store where you bought it, as it is not consumable.

Salmonella bacteria are responsible for salmonellosis, a disease that usually manifests as severe food poisoning, with symptoms including fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea .

Foods contaminated with this bacterium show no visible or olfactory spoilage, the CFIA said.
