The Republican National Committee (RNC) deleted, over the weekend, an article from its website detailing the agreement reached during the Trump administration on issues related to terrorism and the Middle East.

The context: On the page, which returned a 404 error as of Monday, but was still viewable on archive sites, covered a number of topics, including management negotiations Trump with the Taliban, as well as the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

  • The agreement between the Taliban and Trump established a ceasefire between the now defunct Afghan National Army and the Taliban; and it allowed the US to carry out anti-terrorist activities in areas controlled by the guerrillas.

What do they say? Trump issued a statement in which he harangued Biden for the chaotic evacuation that is taking place in Kabul, and that has generated chaos at the airport that forced the army to temporarily suspend the evacuations of civilians who fear being victims of the Taliban.

  • “During my administration all civilians and equipment would have already been withdrawn,” Trump lashed out at Biden in the text published this Monday.
  • Former Vice President Mike Pence was criticized on social media for accusing the Biden administration of finalizing the exit from Afghanistan, an action initiated in the previous government.
  • Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R) of Wyoming said Monday that both administrations – both Trump and Biden – are responsible for the “catastrophe” seen in Afghanistan.
