Reactions have been flying in the province since the overthrow of Roe v. Wade in the United States. The mayoress of Montreal, Valérie Plante, said at a press conference Monday that Quebecers should prepare to welcome American women who would like to protect themselves from the right to abortion.

“The moment when institutions choose for women what to do with their bodies […]we are not in an egalitarian society”, underlined the mayor.
“If there are Americans who want to come here, they will always be welcome,” she continued.
According to Françoise Girard, a Quebecer living in the United States and director of Feminism Makes Us Smarter, clinics in Canada are already preparing to see the repercussions of the cancellation of Roe v. Wade.
“It is already happening in Mexico. Mexican feminists are already on the move to receive women from Texas in particular,” explained Ms.me Girard on the waves of LCN.
Earlier this week, the mayor of the metropolis had written on her Twitter account that she was “outraged” by the reversal of the Roe c. Wade.
