Revenu Québec: an agreement in principle has been reached

After more than two years of negotiations, the Agence du Revenu du Québec (ARQ) and the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ) have finally reached a new agreement in principle regarding the collective agreement for 6,000 employees, in Wednesday night through Thursday.

These 6,000 employees are mostly technicians and office workers.

“The agreement will have to be ratified by the negotiating bodies of the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ) in the coming days and, thereafter, the members of the ARQ will be called upon to decide, can we read in a press release issued by the union. Until then, no information on the content of this agreement will be disclosed.

The general president of the SFPQ, Christian Daigle, however stressed that the agreement in principle is “satisfactory for both parties”, and that it should make it possible to improve salaries. This issue was the main point of contention in the negotiations.

“This agreement will make it possible, among other things, to begin a salary catch-up long awaited by our members, in order to attract and retain the workforce within Revenu Québec,” he declared.
