The pandemic is only rising in Catalonia, a trend that the Government believes will continue for about two weeks, with Christmas in between. In the last hours the record of infections of this sixth wave in one day has been given; about 10,000. Therefore, it is asked not to lower our guard and insists on prevention measures, since this wave is already affecting the health system, mainly the primary care, which these days will also be dedicated to the vaccination of children under 12 years of age. This Tuesday the same, according to the data released this Wednesday for Salut: hospitals continue with more patients and a rise in those who are in critical condition. There are 10 more people admitted than on Monday (a total of 1,116), five of them in ucis (264 in total)
The positivity rate of the screening tests performed in the last week was 10.58%. The World Health Organization (WHO) considers up to 5% controllable the pandemic. Once this percentage is exceeded, it is considered that epidemic is expanding.
The primary care centers (CAP) attended yesterday, Tuesday, about 22,000 visits, a pressure that has not been registered in the outpatient clinics in recent days since the beginning of last August, and a tension that worries Salut.
The risk of regrowth (EPG), an index that measures the growth potential of the epidemic, continues to rise considerably and stands at 700 points (a notable rise, yesterday it was 569), while the speed of spread of the virus (Rt) in Catalonia rises to 1.40 (compared to 1.20 that it was). This last indicator was holding steady or even trending down.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 1,098,275 people have been diagnosed with covid-19 by all kinds of tests in Catalonia, 9,845 of them counted in the last 24 hours. It is the highest daily increase in this sixth wave. In the last week, 22,716 have been diagnosed by PCR or antigen test (TA), an average of more than 3,000 a day, data that clearly return to the situation of the last July, in the middle of the fifth wave. The death toll also rises: 17 more.
