Record international investments in Montreal

During 2020-2021, the Montreal region received a record $3.7 billion in investments from abroad.

This is an increase of 69% compared to the previous year.

“It’s unheard of, and in the current context, it’s exceptional,” said the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, who believes that Montreal is in a good position to emerge from the pandemic.

Montreal International unveiled these figures Monday morning, along with Plante, Quebec Minister Chantal Rouleau, and Canadian Minister Pascale St-Onge.

The main investments over the past year came from the United States, at 35%, and from France, at 25%.

Investments from the rest of Canada accounted for 22% of results.

In total, the foreign companies that invested in Montreal came from 25 different countries.
