Reader’s Letter: Fond Childhood Memories of Outdoor Christmas Lights

Article content

A nearby shopping plaza reminds me that the holiday light season is here.

A childhood memory came along that I wanted to share with my mother, who told us every year that our Riverside home on Lauzon Road was the first home in our section of Riverside to have Christmas lights anchored between two matching huge evergreens.

People at that time were approaching the sidewalk to greet us and admire the rare lights.

Nor will I ever forget Santa Claus and the stairs that were placed every year against the wall of a neighbor’s house.

My mom and dad were driving our 1954 Cadillac Fleetwood through the neighborhood with us in the back looking for other lighted houses.

A more contemporary memory will be the amazing Christmas display that happens every year on Renaud Street and that I like to visit every night during the season.
