Reader letter: New hospital plan should respond to valid criticisms

Article content

In a 2015 Windsor Star article, Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musyj suggested we were in a race with other communities to build a new hospital given that there was limited funding from the province. I have mentioned Ottawa, Niagara, and Muskoka.

Clearly we are losing that race.

The other successful communities adjusted their plans when faced with protests. Ottawa changed the location; Niagara vowed to keep Welland hospital open once their second major hospital is built and Muskoka with a year-round population of 67,000 is now planning on two hospitals.

Winning the race to build hospitals is not dependent on considering it a “done deal,” but rather responding to valid criticism from the community.
