Why are Urgent care clinics not open 24/7 in this city?
The local ERs are often overcrowded with non-emergency cases. We all know children often get sick in the evening or during the night. They end up being brought to the emergency room with high fevers, a rash, sore throat, etc. They could have instead easily be taken care of at a clinic.
These clinics could be run by Nurse Practitioners who can order meds, antibiotics or X-rays.
The local ERs then would be able to better care for true emergencies — heart attacks, accidents, overdoses — with long wait times alleviated.
Instead these urgent care clinics close at 6 pm and don’t open again until 8 am or 9 am which makes me no sense. Children could instead be cared for faster and parents do not have to wait times of hours.
I’m hoping there is some way to consider this solution to help address the problem and not just be ignored.
