Reader letter: Civility and decorum appears to be going by wayside

During a recent shopping trip, I came out of the grocery store to find that a truck had parked beside my car. Displayed in the back window was a sticker with the slogan “F**k Trudeau.” It was clearly visible to all those passing by.

This is not the first time I have seen such offensive displays having noticed similar slogans on flags and even displayed in the front windows of some homes.

Where is our sense of civility?

Although we are entitled to free speech, this type of display takes that right beyond the realm of good sense or decorum. Our children and others on seeing these displays may accept this as the proper way to express themselves.

Where is our sense of consideration for others? It feels like our society is degrading daily, perhaps reflecting similar mores of our neighbor to the south.

This has to stop.
