RCMP seeks witnesses for accident near Banff that sent multiple people to hospital – Calgary | The Canadian News

The RCMP is seeking witnesses to a two-vehicle accident near Boom Lake earlier this month.

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Highway 93, approximately half an hour west of Banff, on December 18, shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound pickup truck and a northbound pickup truck collided head-on and stopped in the northbound lane of Highway 93.

EMS responded from Banff, Canmore, and Stoney Nakoda Nation, as well as Radium / Invermere, BC, to treat the seven occupants who were eventually transferred to various hospitals in Calgary.

The injuries ranged from serious to minor and included two children.

The RCMP said winter road conditions at the time were severe with snow and ice covering the road, as well as fresh snow falling and the wind causing poor driving conditions.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
