RCMP Investigates Suspicious Death After Body Found in Burned-Out Vehicle Near Ardrossan – Edmonton | The Canadian News

The RCMP is investigating a suspicious death east of Edmonton, where a body was found inside a burned-out vehicle on a country road Wednesday night.

The Strathcona County RCMP responded at 9:36 p.m. to a vehicle fire east of Sherwood Park, near Township Road 530 and Range 221 in the Ardrossan area.

Human remains were found inside the burned vehicle. It is not known whether the person was male or female.

Police said the death was deemed suspicious and that the Alberta RCMP felony unit took over the investigation with the help of the RCMP forensic identification unit and Strathcona County detachment officers.

An autopsy was ordered, but a date had not yet been set as of Thursday morning.

The RCMP is looking for dash cam footage or information on suspicious vehicles and / or people who may have been in the area at the time.
