RCMP investigates after the death of a 17-year-old pedestrian in Punnichy, Sask. | The Canadian News

Punnichy, Sask. The RCMP is investigating a pedestrian-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 17-year-old George Gordon First Nation boy.

The RCMP says that around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, they responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on checkered highway # 640, about five miles south of Punnichy.

Punnichy is located approximately 120 kilometers north of Regina.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS and his family has been notified. The RCMP does not release his name.

The man who was driving the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene.

No charges have been filed.

Punnichy RCMP and RCMP Collision Reconstruction continue to investigate. The road was closed for the duration of the investigation, but has since been reopened.
