Radio Centro withdraws from Guanajuato after the sale of two stations in León and Arroyo Seco

The company León Radio XV SA de CV is the new owner of the stations XEXV-AM 1300KHz with coverage in Arroyo Seco and the XHXV-FM 88.9 MHz de León, and has the concession of both frequencies until May 11, 2026date on which their validity expires for their commercial exploitation, if their concession renewal process is not previously initiated.

Salvador Pérez Habib is a renowned businessman on Mexican radio. his company, Radio Toluca SA de CVis the concessionaire of the station XHQY-FM 103.7 MHz with which it radiates to the entire West of the State of Mexico.

Radio Centro, through its different subsidiaries that managed said stations, paid annual payments of 17,622 pesos for maintaining the concession of the XEXV-AM 1300 KHz and 330,815 pesos for also retaining the XHXV-FM 88.9 MHz, payments that had to be made until the year 2026, expiration date of the concession and that will now correspond to León Radio XV SA de CV pay.

The stations XEXV-AM 1300 KHz and XHXV-FM 88.9 MHz originally belonged to the company Radio Capital SA de CV., who transferred it to Grupo Radio Digital Siglo XXI SA de CV in 2007, in a transaction valued at 9 million pesos.

“It is determined that the operation consisting of the alienation of all the representative shares of the capital stock of León Radio XV SA de CV, which are owned by Grupo Radio Centro y Desarrollos Empresariales SA de CV, in favor of Salvador Pérez Habib and Salvador Pérez Habib Madrigal as purchasers, presumably would not have adverse effects to the process of competition and free concurrence in the provision of the commercial sound broadcasting service in the AM and FM bands in the towns of Arroyo Seco and León, Guanajuato, respectively,” said the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFT).

The foregoing, by virtue of the fact that “the acquirers evaluated under their dimension of economic interest group, as well as people who have ties with each of them, do not have concession titles for the provision of services in the telecommunications or broadcasting sectors. in Mexico”.

Grupo Radio Centro occupied the two frequencies to transmit from there the radio concept “La Z”.
