Querétaro, Qro. Querétaro has a portfolio of 34 investment projects, with the intention of settling in the state, which, if materialized, would involve investments of 80,000 million pesos, according to the records of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (Sedesu).
If they materialize, together they could generate 15,000 new jobs in the entity, said the head of Sedesu, Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.
The majority, 85.3% (29), correspond to new investments that are analyzing settling in the entity; 14.7% (five more) are about expansions, that is, investment projects that are studying companies already established in the state.
Industries with an interest in investing are largely focused on the manufacturing sector, one of the state’s productive vocations, particularly in the automotive, aerospace, and household appliances branches.
However, new niches of interest are opening up in the information technology sector. The installation of data centers, said the official, has fostered new avenues for indirect supply.
“The interest of the manufacturing sector, the automotive and aerospace, of electrical appliances continues; however, the information technology sector is having special relevance in the state, we have recently realized investments in data centers and that as a result, new industries, new indirect suppliers are generated ”, he pointed out.
One of the lines of work of the state government is to promote the arrival of new sectors, an axis that is also linked to the public policy of promoting the circular economy, through which it seeks to detect new market niches.
“We are knocking on the door to open new market niches, which affect, for example, through the circular economy system that we launched this year and that I had the opportunity to present to the Secretary of Economy (Tatiana Clouthier) and derived from In this presentation, we organized a workshop for all the secretaries of Economic Development of the country, to publicize what Querétaro is doing ”, he declared.
The southern part of the state is the one of greatest interest for the installation of new investment projects, especially the industrial corridor that integrates metropolitan municipalities and surrounding the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ).
“It depends a lot on the type of companies, there are many variables that are considered, obviously there is the area of Corregidora, Querétaro, Colón, El Marqués, Pedro Escobedo, San Juan del Río, all that corridor to Tequisquiapan, the entire southern area of the state, there is interest in investing ”, declared Del Prete Tercero.
Soon, he said, private investments will be announced that are already closed and that will be located in the southern corridor of the entity.
In the first half of the year, the arrival of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the state amounted to 341.8 million dollars, a figure that shows an annual fall of 57.8%, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.
The reinvestment of profits was the main support for FDI, representing 80.3% of the total in this period.
