Querétaro readies its participation in the Tianguis Turístico de Mérida

Querétaro, Qro. Queretaro The goal of becoming the first seasonal destination in the country in terms of tourism has been set.

This is one of the purposes of the entity’s tourism promotion strategy, commented the Secretary of Tourism, Mariela Morán Ocampo.

In this context, he stressed that an intense promotional campaign is being developed especially aimed at tourism from nearby states, Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

Querétaro will be present at the Mérida Tourist Tianguis, which will take place from November 16 to 19.

The state’s participation is part of the tourism promotion strategy that the state government will relaunch, the secretary said.

Meanwhile, the governor, Mauricio Kuri González, confirmed that he will also attend the 45th edition of Tourist Tianguis.

In this edition there will be 700 purchasing companies, as well as an area of ​​20,000 square meters of exhibition and more than 600 exhibiting companies. More than 40,000 preset business appointments are estimated.

Before the pandemic, only in 2018 the tourism sector generated 86,000 million pesos to the local economy, contributing 21.5% of the Gross domestic product (GDP), being the second sector with the highest contribution to the state economy, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism.

Prior to the health contingency due to Covid-19, tourism provided 54,000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect ones.
