Querétaro first city in America to receive Michelin cities


Queretaro, Qro. The city of Querétaro became the first town in the American continent to receive the International Network of Cities michelin.

The city hosts the third meeting of the international network, which aims to promote sustainable cities.

The Governor of Queretaro Mauricio Kuri Gonzalez, highlighted that through this meeting a guide for the sustainable growth of the entity will also be set; he added that it is an opportunity to propose solutions for the shared objectives in planning, sustainability and urban mobility.

This meeting, he explained, will allow learning about experiences of smart local solutions in terms of urban development, the environment and economic reactivation.



“We are convinced that the only way to move our state and our city forward is citizen participation, that is why I am very grateful that representatives of business leaders are here, (…) because this is what makes our Querétaro strong; Querétaro is made strong, not by the rulers, but by the businessmen, the workers, those who bet on Queretaro”, he raised.

During the opening of the meeting, the director general for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE)Bernardo Aguilar Calvo, outlined the commitment of the federal government to collaborate closely with Querétaro and advance the objectives of sustainable development.

The SRE, he added, he fights for three priorities: health, economic reactivation and security. Likewise, he highlighted that the unit joined the Artemisa project, where the creation of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency is promoted, an area, where Querétaro stands out as the main promoter in the matter and headquarters of the aerospace cluster.

He is also the founder and co-chair of the International Network of Cities michelin He recalled that the network was founded more than seven years ago with the purpose of reinforcing the exchanges that exist between cities from all over the world. The network is made up of 44 cities in 24 countries.

Various activities are planned from March 15 to 17; among them, representatives of seven cities from five countries will share the best practices in planning, economic reactivation, sustainability, and urban mobility.
