Quebec truck driver arrested for drug trafficking

A truck driver from Quebec was caught entering Canada with a shipment totaling more than a quarter of a ton of drugs, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) revealed on Wednesday.

Asrhdeep Singh, a 23-year-old citizen of Quebec City, was arrested on January 13 as he attempted to enter Canada through the Blue Water Bridge border crossing in Point Edward, Ontario.

“While examining the vehicle, border services officers noticed large garbage bags and spare tires. Further inspection of these items uncovered substances suspected of being suspected illicit narcotics,” the RCMP said.

Specifically, border agents found 265 kg of heroin, pink cocaine and methamphetamine camouflaged in the shipment.

Singh now faces six counts of drug possession and trafficking.

“The CBSA is proud of this important seizure. The tireless efforts of our officers have prevented this immense quantity of narcotics from entering Canadian communities,” commented An Nguyen, District Director of St. Clair District Operations at the Canada Border Services Agency. .
