Quebec reports five more COVID-19 deaths as hospitalizations rise again


The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 has now gone up on seven consecutive days.

Quebec once again reported an increase in the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 on Sunday, adding 20 more for a total of 1,088.

Since dipping below 1,000 last weekend, hospitalizations have now risen on seven consecutive days.

Of those hospitalized patients, 56 are in intensive care — an increase of one.

The province also announced five more deaths had been attributed to the virus, bringing the total death since the start of the pandemic to 14,324.

A further 1,884 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed through PCR testing at government clinics. Insofar as this form of testing is inaccessible to most Quebecers, the number of new cases is not representative of the overall situation in the province.
