This comes as the provincial government warned the public earlier this weekend to be wary of fake COVID-19 vaccine passport applications.

The Ministry of Health issued a statement informing the circulation of applications deliberately designed to mimic the appearance of the application used for the province’s COVID-19 vaccine passport.

The ministry said that the image developed for the VaxiCode application has been copied and used in similar applications approved for download on Google Play.

Authorities have contacted Google to remove the similar apps from their app store, but until then, they offered instructions to merchants and customers to make sure they are downloading the correct app.
