QB Dane Evans injured in Hamilton Tiger-Cats loss to Argonauts | The Canadian News

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats suffered a double whammy Friday night in Toronto.

Not only did Hamilton’s two-game winning streak come to a heartbreaking end, the team also lost quarterback Dane Evans to injury.

At 17-10, Ticats running back Sean Thomas Erlington scored on a 20-yard rush with 1:24 left in regulation time to make it a one-point game.

But kicker Michael Domagala’s conversion attempt to tie the competition sounded off the right post and the Argonauts walked away with a 17-16 victory.

Evans, who was already playing without injured catcher Brandon Banks and quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, suffered an apparent hip injury midway through the fourth quarter while being sacked by Toronto’s Shawn Oakman and did not return.

He finished the game with 192 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception while rushing three times for a total of 32 yards.

Toronto quarterback Nick Arbuckle threw a touchdown and ran for another as Argos improved to 3-2 on the season and avenged his loss to Hamilton (2-3) on Labor Day.

The game was played in front of 9,702 fans at BMO Field, where the Argonauts are now 2-0.

Hamilton’s next game is on September 17 when he hosts the Calgary Stampeders.
