Publisher | The double Primavera Sound, a warning signal

The promoters of the festival Spring Sound, who aspired to consolidate in Barcelona from next year the double date that will be held in 2022 to compensate for the break in the pandemic, have finally decided to distribute those dates in 2023 between the Catalan capital (June 1, 2 and 3 ) and Arganda del Rey, 40 kilometers from Madrid (June 8, 9 and 10). The Councilor for Culture of the Barcelona City Council, Jordi Martí, wished good luck in this Madrid adventure, and welcomed the fact that the festival, which has featured the motto ‘Made in Barcelona’ in its various international editions, does not consume its threats of leaving the city for their disagreements with the municipal government. The continuity will be positive for the Barcelona music scene and for its tourism sector, although it is not clear that sharing the brand, the influx of visitors and probably the lineup of artists with Madrid is news to be congratulated without nuances, beyond to consider it a success in the face of the threat of losing the festival. The functioning of Primavera 2022 in Barcelona and the first shared editions will tell if its expansion in Madrid makes the festival grow, benefiting all its venues, with more prospects of success than extending its Barcelona event to two weekends, or if it ends up becoming in a first step to permanently migrate. If so, it would be a failure to write down those responsible for having prevented it.
