Province reporting fewer than 1,700 COVID-related hospitalizations for third day

Ontario is reporting fewer than 1,700 COVID-19 related hospitalizations for the third day in a row and 13 additional deaths on Saturday.

According to the province’s online data, there are 1,676 people in hospital, 157 patients are in ICU with the virus, and 89 people are on a ventilator. However, not all hospitals report their data on weekends.

The province also states the 13 deaths reported are from the past month. That brings the total number of deaths to 12,825 to date.

There are 2,799 new cases of the virus being reported, but Ontario’s panel of COVID-19 advisers’ scientific director said multiplying the daily case count by 20 would provide more of an accurate number.

On Saturday, April 30, the province is reporting fewer than 1,700 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. (covid-19.ontario.ca/data)
