Promenade Samuel-De Champlain: Minister Guilbault corrects the situation

In information reported by the Quebec newspaper and which aroused the anger of elected officials in Quebec City, Minister Guilbeault suggested that her government was abandoning the extension in favor of the Quebec-Lévis tunnel and the development of the East Coast Innovation Zone (ZILE). This phase four was to allow in particular the continuation of the walk along the river to Limoilou then Beauport.

There was never any question of giving it up. [Cela] was never questioned eithercorrected the minister on Tuesday.

Geneviève Guilbault rather suggests that her government is reviewing the commitment of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) of 2018, when the party was committed complete phase three of Promenade Samuel-De Champlain and support phase four of the same development project […]. That’s exactly what we diddefended the minister.

We put a lot of energy and time into phase three. It was very complicated for all kinds of reasons […] and we managed to do it. Phase three will be delivered in the coming monthsshe adds.

Phase four still exists, according to the minister. It is a project that will have to evolve in the light of all that has appeared as potential and proven development in the eastern partincluding the tramway, the construction of a new bridge on Île d’Orléans, and the East Coast Innovation Zone.

In no case do we renounce phase four. We will do it step by step. We are going to do it correctly and it is also a phase four which is fragmented. There are several sub-steps. »

A quote from Geneviève Guilbault, Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region

Group fire from the opposition

Liberal Pierre Arcand believes that several issues have not made much progress in the past four years in the Capitale-Nationale region. He thinks his government has done better in the past. They’ve been there for nearly four years, and several cases have not been settled. I think that […] we had several ministers from the Capitale-Nationale, I am thinking among others of Sam Hamad. If Sam had been there, the cases would have been resolved much more quickly and easily.

Some elected officials at city hall believe that Geneviève Guilbault is not very present and that she ignores certain priorities defended by others. The leader of Quebec first, Claude Villeneuve, even went so far as to say that the minister is the worst minister of the Capitale-Nationale that we have had.

It is certain that in terms of public transport, active transport, we have long had this unfortunate impression that Ms. Guilbault was putting her foot on the brakealso dropped the solidarity MP Manon Massé. I don’t know if that makes her the worst, but one thing is for sure, her rating isn’t very good..

PQ MP Sylvain Gaudreau goes in the same direction.

I don’t know if she’s the worst minister, but it’s certainly the government that makes the worst decisions for our Capitale-Nationale. Whether it’s on the nickel, on the third link and there on phase four of the Promenade Samuel-De Champlain project, it’s constantly bad, decision over bad decision.
