Prince Edward Island Reports Five New COVID-19 Cases Saturday

HALIFAX –

PEI reported five new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

Dr. Heather Morrison, PEI’s director of public health, says one case involves an individual in their 70s, one in their 50s, two in their 40s, and one case involves an individual under the age of 12.

Two of the cases are travel-related and self-insulating. Two are contacts from a previous case and have become isolated. One of the cases is a close contact of a case and contact tracing is in progress.

There are currently 22 active cases of COVID-19 in PEI. To date, the province has had 387 cases.

SCHOOL-RELATED CASE

Public Health says one of the cases is a student at Ecole La-Belle-Cloche, a French-speaking school in Fortune Bridge. Public health is reaching out to close contacts with instructions for isolation and testing. Both tryouts and a deep cleaning of the school will take place on Sunday.

NEW EXPOSURES TO COVID-19

There are also three new public exhibitions at Souris:

Sunday, November 28:

• Eastern Kings Sportsplex (203 Veteran’s Memorial Highway) between 3:00 pm and 4:10 pm

• Co-op Souris (85 Main Street) between 4:15 pm and 4:45 pm

Wednesday, December 1:

• Eastern Kings Sportsplex (203 Veteran’s Memorial Highway) between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm

Anyone at potential exposure sites during specified times who is not fully vaccinated should be tested for COVID-19. People should also continue to monitor symptoms for 14 days after exposure and retest if symptoms develop.
