Possible 15th feminicide this year

A 32-year-old mother was killed Monday by a man in circumstances suggesting a 15th feminicide since the start of the year in Quebec.

The lifeless body of Andréanne Ouellet was discovered Monday afternoon by officers of the Sûreté du Québec in a single-family residence on the edge of the village of Saint-Donat, in Lanaudière. The woman was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at the end of the day.

This Tuesday, investigators arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the murder. Neither his identity nor his relationship with the victim has been disclosed. He is currently being questioned and is expected to appear at the Joliette courthouse on Wednesday.
