City police are searching for an armed robber who allegedly assaulted a jewelry worker and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

Crime scene tape wrapped an entrance to LeMarchand Mansion at 100 Avenue Wednesday afternoon as officers investigated the scene. A witness told Postmedia that there was a pool of blood outside Kline Fine Jewelery & Design, located inside the building. A bloody man with a bandage wrapped around his head walked out of the building.

Police released a press release on Friday in response to Postmedia’s questions.

Officers were called around 3:15 pm and told that a man entered the store with a firearm, assaulted an employee, took an “undisclosed amount of jewelry” and then escaped, the agency said. police in the statement.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s of around five feet ten with an average build. At the time, he was wearing a fur hat, glasses, a mask, a dark-colored jacket, dark blue jeans, and black shoes with a white sole. He also carried a black bag.

Paramedics responded and took a 68-year-old worker to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Since then, he has been released.

The theft section of Edmonton Police Services is investigating the theft and is asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
