A 22-year-old motorist who provoked a police chase in the Outaouais was fined $6,390, while his license was suspended and deducted 41 demerit points.

It all started when the driver of the sedan refused to stop, when he was flashed shortly before 6 a.m. driving at 160 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on Route 148, in the area of Luskville.
A chase ensued, but was quickly interrupted by the police who requested the assistance of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to help locate the suspect who, in the meantime, continued his escape with great excess of speed of more than 190 km/h.
Having committed several violations of the highway safety code, the unscrupulous motorist drove with a license plate cover to avoid being identified by the police who were on his trail.
Located by SQ police, the contravent was arrested around 6:30 a.m. and faces charges of dangerous driving and absconding, while he received 13 statements of offense totaling $6,390.
The suspect’s vehicle was seized and his license, deducted from 41 demerit points, suspended on the spot, said the police of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais in a press release.
